Cucuri was launched in 2014 by Mr. Yamagami, the representative of Yamagami Shoten Co., Ltd., a tie-dye manufacturing company, and Mr. Imai, a designer. 

It uses textiles made using the Arimatsu tie-dye technique, a traditional Nagoya craft that has been around since the Edo period, and is designed to fit modern lifestyles.
